En este post queremos hablaros de SALUD en mayúsculas y más concretamente de la salud de los más pequeños de la casa. Pero no desde una perspectiva tradicional sino desde el punto de vista de los nuevos métodos y pedagogías de juego que se emplea para fomentar el desarrollo, tanto cognitivo como emocional, de los niños y las niñas en las aulas.

Empezamos con María Montessori. Seguro que a estas alturas ya has oído hablar de su método educativo porque éste ha conseguido revolucionar la educación más tradicional dando paso a una educación alternativa y moderna que precisamente se etiqueta como ‘Montessori’ por el apellido de su creadora. Pero en la actualidad no sólo está en boga el método educativo citado sino también otros como el Método Doman o la Pedagogía Waldorf. Todas estas pedagogías alternativas tienen algo en común: hacer que los alumnos y alumnas estén motivados para aprender, dando la espalda a los temidos exámenes y notas, y que trabajen por proyectos. Unos proyectos muy manuales y didácticos en los que se evita el plástico y se da prioridad a otros materiales más naturales como la madera, el hierro, las hojas… Y aquí es donde aparece nuestra empresa Urbe Adapta ya que uno de nuestros principales valores es la fabricación y distribución de juegos infantiles que permitan a los niños y niñas crecer jugando. Diseños con los que ponemos a prueba sus sentidos, dinámicos, coloridos y seguros, que apoyan estos métodos señalados socialmente como ‘revolucionarios’.

Pero, ¿Cuáles son las diferencias más significativas entre ellos? A continuación, os detallamos sus características principales así como sus probados beneficios.

Método Montessori

Aquí el niño es el centro del universo (educativo). Los maestros no dan clases tal y como estamos acostumbrados sino que son guías que acompañan al alumno. Los cursos se dividen por etapas de tres años: de 3 a 6, de 6 a 9 y de 9 a 12 años. Es una pedagogía que busca que el alumno esté motivado para desarrollar el conocimiento en el que él tenga interés y que vaya desarrollando un espíritu critico para hacerse preguntas y buscar respuestas probadas y tangibles. Estos alumnos suelen trabajar bien como líderes ya que han desarrollado a los largo de los años mucha autonomía y capacidad crítica. Por ejemplo, en la etapa prescolar, se les enseña a pelar fruta, a lavarse la ropa si se ensucian, a abrocharse y desabrocharse botones y cremalleras, atarse los zapatos, etc. En definitiva, se les muestra cómo ser autónomos.

Método Doman

Doman fue un médico norteamericano que trabajó con niños aquejados de lesiones cerebrales y que consiguieron desarrollar habilidades cognitivas similares o inclusive superiores a las de los niños sanos. Esto le hizo ver que existen alternativas a la hora de enseñar a los más pequeños y que los bebés son capaces de reconocer letras y palabras antes de los 3 años. Para ello se utilizan los bits de inteligencia o, lo que es lo mismo, información visual y auditiva de forma escueta y rápida, mediante tarjetas de información. Los bits mejoran la atención, facilitan la concentración y desarrollan y estimulan el cerebro, la memoria y el aprendizaje.

Pedagogía Waldorf

Se basa en el juego para que los niños aprendan y desarrollen su imaginación. Así, el juego libre es el centro de la educación, sobre todo hasta los 7 años. Se caracteriza pues por escuelas llenas de colores con estancias muy parecidas a las que tenemos en casa (con sofás, cocinas, etc.). No aprenden a leer, escribir o sumar hasta los 7 años. Hasta entonces dedican este tiempo de aprendizaje a disciplinas como las bellas artes o la música. Cada alumno aprende los conocimientos cuando está preparado para ello. Ah, y otro dato significativo, están prohibidas todas las pantallas (televisores, tablets, ordenadores, etc.). En definitiva, es mucho creativo que el Montessori o el Doman.
